Today, within the framework of the Summer School, a seminar was organized on the organization of work with documents of personal origin. The speakers were the director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art E. Makarenko, category I archivist of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zh. Botanova, head of the Lisakovsk regional state archive of the Kostanay region T. Murzabulatova, Head of the Department of Scientific Use and Publication of Archival Documents of the State Archive of Almaty A. Badanbekova. In her presentation, E. Makarenko spoke about the peculiarities of working with documents of personal origin at the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, where documents of writers, musicians, artists, actors and other cultural figures are stored. The archive-museum has developed a special software module “Private Funds” (electronic card index) for accounting documents of personal origin.

Zh. Botanova presented experience of forming personal funds in the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From 1998 to 2023, 94 personal funds were formed in the Archive, containing 10 128 storage units. T. Murzabulatova noted the importance of collecting documents of personal origin. She introduced the seminar participants to some documents stored in the Lisakovsk regional state archive. For example, memories, letters, photographs of veterans of the Great Patriotic War (Eastern Front of WWII) of 1941-1945, participants in the Tselina movement, as well as collections on the history of the city of Lisakovsk, all have been preserved. A. Badanbekova shared her experience in accepting documents and artifacts for storage to the funds of personal origin in the State Archives of Almaty. The speakers' reports aroused great interest among the participants; following the results of the seminar, a discussion and exchange of opinions took place.
