On August 28, 2024, the exchange of experience between the employees of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the employees of the Ottoman Archive continued. Turkish specialists clearly explained how to restore damaged and thinned paper dokuments. As noted, this is one of the most difficult tasks among document restoration activities and therefore this work is carried out in stages. First, the documents are cleaned and sterilized.

Next, to increase the strength of the document base, a special type of paper corresponding to the size of the damaged area is selected and work begins to strengthen it. Turkish colleagues said that depending on the condition of the paper, this process can last several days. Only then, that is, when the work is completed, will specially trained experts check the quality of the work and enter its results into the database. As a result, after the completion of the work, the restored document will be returned to the repository.
