On September 22, in the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there was a meeting with the Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications and the Head of the UN Information Office in Kazakhstan, Vlastimil Samek.
Director of the Archive Aliya Mustafina spoke about the Archive and the Congress of Archivists “Open Society – Open Archive”, which is planned for October 19-21.
Vlastimil Samek said that archival heritage is an important part of the culture of every nation and every state.
The United Nations Country Team (Kazakhstan) works on a broad range of issues, including economic and social development and health, environmental protection and disaster relief, the promotion of good governance and human rights, gender equality and the advancement of women.
Samek was interested in the projects of the Archive for Youth and the scientific historical project of political repressions of the 30-50s. ХХ century, etc.

During the meeting, the participants talked about the speech by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the General Debate of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. «We intend to work together with all stakeholders to address a pressing regional agenda that includes climate change, the Aral Sea, rational use of water resources, border delimitation, combating extremism, and expanding intra-regional trade. That is why we consider it important to establish the UN Regional Centre for SDGs for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty», - said the President.
V. Samek noted, in his opinion, that the UN representatives in Kazakhstan could take part in the International Congress of Archivists as speakers for the student audience.
