On May 3 2024, Director of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Mustafina met with the Director of the State Archives of Chengdu (Sichuan Province) Lu Yi and the head of the document storage department Fang Pu. The city of Chengdu is the cultural and historical center of Sichuan Province and the transport and logistics center of Western China. The Chengdu City Archive is one of the 20 largest archives in China, and the oldest document in its collection dates back to 1774. During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation and joint implementation of professional projects were discussed.

The Director of the Archive of the President invited Chinese colleagues to take part in the II Congress of Archivists of Kazakhstan, which will be held in Almaty in October this year. Guests were also presented with the scientific and methodological journal of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Zhana Archive”, where Chengdu Archives staff can post their scientific articles. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to prepare a memorandum of cooperation. An tour was held for the guests, during which they got acquainted with the work of the Archive Reading Room, as well as the processes of digitization and restoration of archival documents.
