From the Classroom to Archival Documents: Pupils Visit the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan welcomed its eighth group of school students in 2026 as part of the educational project ArchiveSPACE. This time, eighth-grade students from School-Gymnasium No. 75 had the opportunity to become more closely acquainted with archival work and immerse themselves in a historical atmosphere.

The tour began in the laboratory for the restoration of historical documents, where students observed the process of preserving and restoring archival materials. According to student Ramazan Saparbay, each exhibition area of the Archive was well-organized and engaging.

“The tour was very informative. I saw how old documents are restored – it was fascinating. The archivists explained everything clearly and in detail,” the student shared.

It should be noted that within the framework of the project, students not only learn about the work of the Archive, but also deepen their knowledge of the history of their country. Each tour is directly linked to the school curriculum. Estela Abdulina, a history teacher at School-Gymnasium No. 75, emphasized that visiting the Archive helped connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

“In the 8th grade, we are currently studying the topic of political repression in Kazakhstan. We covered this material quite recently, and today the students were able to see real documents from that period and learn how they are preserved and restored. This was an important experience for them. I would like to thank the Archive’s leadership for such a meaningful tour,” the teacher noted.

It is worth recalling that tours within the ArchiveSPACE project have been held on a monthly basis since 2025. Since the beginning of the year, the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been visited by 189 students from six schools in the capital. Work in this area will continue.
