On May 6, on the eve of holidays of May - Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day, cadets of the Academy of Border Service of the Committee of National Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where they were presented an exhibition dedicated to the life and professional career of the first holder of the title "Halyq qaharmany" ("People's Hero"), the first minister of defense of independent Kazakhstan, the first general of the army of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Sagadat Kozhakhmetuly Nurmagambetov (May 25, 1924 - September 24, 2013). Head of the Archive Service for the organization of the use of documents B. Kasenov told future defenders of the country about the lifepath of General S. Nurmagambetov, who during his participation in World War II was an example of courage, as a brave hero of the Kazakh people. The battalion under his command was able to show military courage in capturing the building of Hitler's Reich Chancellery. Battalion also participated in the liberation of the Krasnodar region, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Poland from the Nazis. On February 27, 1945, at the age of 21, Sagadat Nurmagambetov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, later, in April he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. The military knowledge and experience of Sagadat Nurmagambetov contributed to the defense capability of independent Kazakhstan.

In October 1991, Sagadat Nurmagambetov was appointed the chairman of the State Defense Committee by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In May 1992, he became the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The cadets got acquainted with the mentioned historical documents, letters of comrades, reports, memoirs, rare photographs, published articles. The cadets also familiarized themselves with the content of the letter of recommendation on defense and military-political issues in the republic of addressed by S. Nurmagambetov to the President of Kazakhstan, a reference-report on the main directions of the military construction of Kazakhstan and a decree on assigning S. Nurmagambetov with the rank of army general. The documents presented at the exhibition are taken fr om the personal fund of S. Nurmagambetov, which is kept in the Archive of the President. An interactive version of the exhibition is shown on the screen, wh ere the cadets listened to the memoirs of Sagadat Nurmagambetov, who played an important role in the creation and formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic. Citizens who worked with him, his daughter and other people who knew him personally shared their thoughts about the hero in the video.
