International contacts: Finland

In order to establish cooperation and study the experience of Finland in the field of archives, in the period of August 29-30, the Kazakhstan's archivists visited Helsinki. During the visit, Kazakhstani specialists had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the National Archives of Finland, as well as exchange views with Finnish colleagues regarding the prospects for the development of the industry in the context of the introduction of advanced technologies. The visit also contributed to the formation of working ties between the parties and the development of specific proposals for the content of future interaction.

As director of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aliya Mustafina noted, Finland's achievements in creating a digital space are of undoubted interest for Kazakhstan, which is expressed in the intention of the Kazakh side to develop further close cooperation with Finnish partners. In turn, the head of the National Archives of Finland, Päivi Happonen, noted that such visits are necessary for the exchange of experience between countries and the development of professional skills among archival specialists. Also during the meeting, the archivists discussed the research project of Finnish colleagues "Finns in the USSR 1917-1964."
