On the sidelines of the 3rd Congress of Archivists “Digital Archive EXPO”, the leadership of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a series of bilateral meetings with foreign delegations. The discussions focused on strengthening international cooperation, exchanging professional expertise, advancing the digital transformation of the archival sector, and implementing joint initiatives.

As part of the forum, Director of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aliya Mustafina met with Ichiro Furuya, Senior Vice President of the National Archives of Japan. The parties discussed the further implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in Tokyo in 2025 during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Particular attention was given to joint initiatives in the fields of research and education, professional exchange programmes, and modern approaches to the digitalisation of archival collections.

Cooperation between the archival institutions of Kazakhstan and Japan has been developing successfully for several years. In December 2024, a delegation from the Archive of the President visited Tokyo, while in 2025 and 2026 Kazakhstani specialists took part in international seminars organised by the Japanese side.

The Congress also provided an opportunity for a meeting with a delegation from the Presidential Archives of the Republic of Korea. The participants discussed prospects for expanding institutional cooperation, preparations for a Memorandum of Understanding, and the exchange of expertise in the digitalisation of archival processes, preservation of archival holdings, and the application of modern information technologies.

In addition, the leadership of the Archive of the President held talks with a delegation from the National Records and Archives Authority of the Sultanate of Oman. The discussions focused on digital archiving, records and information management, document conservation and restoration, as well as the use of advanced technologies to support research activities and improve public access to archival materials.

Following the meetings, the international delegates were introduced to the activities of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and toured its archival repositories, conservation laboratories, and digital facilities. The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening professional ties, exchanging expertise, and implementing joint projects aimed at advancing modern archival practice.
