Seminar "Methodology and approaches to using archival collections for educational purposes"

One of the speakers at the Congress was Andrew Payne, Head of Education and Outreach at the National Archives of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who shared his experience with Kazakhstani archivists and teachers on methods of involving schoolchildren in studying the historical heritage practiced by the UK archives. The seminar "Methodology and approaches to using archival collections for educational purposes" became an important platform for discussing the involvement of young people in history through archival materials.

In his report, Andrew Payne highlighted how the use of archives in the educational process helps students understand their culture and history, forming their historical memory and identity. Participants discussed innovative approaches, including interactive exhibitions and digital platforms that make archival collections more accessible and attractive to young people. One of the interesting approaches discussed at the seminar is the use of historical reconstruction. Lecturers or students can try on clothes from different eras, which helps them to better immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the past. This hands-on approach not only enlivens the learning process, but also contributes to the formation of a deep understanding of historical events and their significance. The seminar demonstrated how archives can help shape the historical consciousness of future generations. At the end of the seminar, all participants received certificates, which confirmed their contribution to the discussion of the most important issues of the educational process and the use of archival documents.
