As part of the Congress, a debate session on “Professional Education and Development of Archivists” was held at Al-Farabi KazNU on October 3, 2024. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU J. Tuimebaev, Director General of the National Library of Jordan Nidal Ibrahim, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the National Archives of Qatar Mohammed Hussin Alkhaldi, Head of the Education and Outreach of the National Archives of UK A. Payne, Director of the Kaunas Regional State Archives of the Republic of Lithuania G. Druchkus, Head of the Scientific, Methodological and Management Department of the Main Archival Administration of Mongolia O. Ts. Baasanjav, Chief Researcher of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk (Poland) D. Panto, Deputy Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Affairs in Moscow (Russia) E. Romanova, Director of the State Archives of the Sughd Region of Tajikistan G. Garkin-zade, leading domestic and foreign experts in archival affairs, as well as the teaching staff and students of the History Department of the University.

The event was opened by the rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University J. Tuimebaev, who spoke about the work carried out at the University in the field of archival affairs, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. "Preservation, study, development and use of historical and cultural heritage for the benefit of the nation is our common goal. In this regard, I urge all the academic experts present today to give a lecture in the field of archival science at the Kazakh National University in the future. This initiative will allow us to jointly use and study archival materials from Kazakhstan and other countries," the rector said. Scientists and archivists, practitioners, and teachers of the University took part in the debate session.
