The II Congress of Archivists has ended

On October 4, the II Congress of Archivists "Heritage Institutions on the Way to Sustainable Development of Society", organized by the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the International Council on Archives, concluded its work. During the final session, the participants once again emphasized the important points of the discussions that were held within the framework of the forum and once again noted the importance of preserving historical information, ensuring equal access of citizens to archival data and the introduction of modern technologies to create "smart archives".

Particular attention was paid to the problems of preserving documents in a changing climate, the institutional development of archives and the introduction of new technologies. Participants noted that the professional community needs to implement scientific projects, including international ones, that will help archivists adapt to modern challenges, including digitalization, big data management and cybersecurity. Following the Congress, the participants reviewed a draft Resolution, which will be taken into account by the Coordination Committee of the Congress when developing the agenda of the next III Congress of Archivists, which will be held in 2026.
