The Library of Congress
On March 6, a delegation from the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the Library of Congress.
The US Library of Congress is the largest library foundation in the world in terms of the number of books and the variety of subject collections. It is pleasant to note that the Library’s book collection includes collections of archival documents and reference literature prepared and published by the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of the visit to the Library of Congress, a meeting was held with Joan Weeks, head of the Middle East and Turkic Department, who in her speech noted that the books of Kazakh archivists are a valuable resource for researchers specializing in the study of the Central Asia region.
During the meeting, the parties discussed new opportunities for cooperation, including the implementation of joint educational projects on the storage of paper and digital publications, systematization and cataloging of library and archival data.
A special guided tour was organized for the Archive delegation with the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the reading room and book depositories, as well as the search system of the Library of Congress.
