On October 28-29, 2024, the International Conference of the UNESCO "Memory of the World" Programme "At the Crossroads of International Understanding and Cooperation" and the 4th Global Policy Forum were held in Paris. As part of the first day of the conference, Director of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Mustafina gave a speech at a special government panel dedicated to the role of documentary heritage as an asset that contributes to strengthening international understanding. In her speech, the Director emphasized the successful experience of holding the Congress of Archivists, which the Archive of the President organized for the second time in October 2024. This significant event once again became a platform for strengthening cooperation and exchanging experiences among archivists. Particular attention was paid to the projects of the Archive of the President aimed at attracting young people to the study of history and documentary heritage. Among such initiatives were: a seminar on the use of archival collections in education, conducted by Andrew Payne from the National Archives of the United Kingdom, the "Smart Archive" Hackathon organized in collaboration with Satbayev University and Yandex Qazaqstan, the Summer School for Young Archivists, archival science Olympiads and the research competition “My Family's History in Archival Documents”. These projects become a bridge between young people and the rich heritage stored in the archives, inspiring a new generation to study history. The topic of attracting young people's interest toward studying and learning about documentary and cultural heritage was widely discussed not only at the government panel, but also at other sessions of the Conference, which emphasizes the relevance and importance of this area in the field of international cooperation.

On October 29, the delegation took part in the Global Policy Forum: "From Policy to Practice", where the discussion of important issues of preserving documentary heritage continued. As Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO Takehiro Kano noted in his opening address to the forum participants: "The loss of documentary heritage is a loss not only for a community or a country, but for humanity as a whole." The three sessions of the forum included discussions about readiness of heritage institutions for emergencies, the problems of timely response, and recovery from natural and man-made disasters. Much attention was paid to the experience of the Latin American and Caribbean regions in building an intersectoral network to ensure the preparedness of archives for natural disasters and current mechanisms for cooperation between communities of heritage experts. At the final session, international experts spoke about their experience in informing politicians and drawing public attention to the pressing problems of libraries and archives. The importance of timely digitalization was separately noted, which made it possible to preserve long-lost physical materials and discover materials important for research and identification.
