Forum "Historical memory of the people of Kazakhstan: history and modernity"
May 29-30, 2024, the forum "Historical memory of the people of Kazakhstan: history and modernity", devoted to the Day of memory of victims of political repressions and famine, was held in the city of Karaganda within the framework of the international project «Tarihtan tağylym – ötkenge tağzym» ("Learning from history - bowing to the past") / "Memory in the name of the future". Event is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of S. Seifullin. The forum is organized by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the Committee for the Development of Interethnic Relations of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan in partnership with the Akimat of the Karaganda Region, the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, RSI "Kogamdyk Kelisim", Karaganda State University named after E.A. Buketov, the Institute of State History of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Museum of Saken Seifullin, the Museum of History and Local Lore of the Zhanarkin District named after S. Seifullin.
Well-known public figures, scientists, teachers and students took part in the event. At the plenary session, the head of the Center for the Study of Materials of Political Repression of the 20th Century of the Archive of the President G. Nurymbetova delivered a report "Political repression in Kazakhstan: facts and figures". In her speech, she emphasized that it is our duty to preserve the memory of the victims of political repression and pass it on to the new generation so that nothing like this happens again. In the course of the work, the participants of the forum were presented with a historical-documentary exhibition "Saken Seifullin in archival documents", prepared by the Center for the Study of Materials of Political Repression of the 20th Century of the Archive of the President. Photographs and documents from the personal file of S. Seifullin, stored in the Archive of the President were shown at the exhibition: questionnaires, characteristics, conclusions on charges, extracts from minutes, arrest warrants, photographs and other documents.
