LIBRARY AND REFERENCE-INFORMATION FUND

          The Library of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was formed on the basis of the libraries of the Kazakhstan Institute for strategic studies and part of the library of the Institute of party history under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.

          As of January 1, 2020 the library contains over 45 thousand books, 4 thousand newspaper sets and more than 16 thousand copies of magazines.

          The fund contains the main reference literature on the history of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and numerous publications from different periods on the history of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan and the Leninist Young Communist League of Kazakhstan, party building, including documentary collections on this issue.
          The fund contains books about the life and work of Zh.Baribayev, T.Bokin, U.Jandossov, A.Imanov, T.Zhurgenov, I.Kabulov, N.Kalashnikov, M.Masanchi, S.Nurpeissov, P.Petrovskyi, A.Rozybakiyev , F.Ruzayev, I.Ruzheinikov, T.Ryskulov, N.Syrgabekov, K.Tashtitov, Ya.Ushakov, D.Furmanov, S.Tsarev, S.Sharipov, A.Yarmukhamedov and many others. Collections about state and socio-political leaders of Kazakhstan, published in recent years: D.Ashimbaev. Who's Who in Kazakhstan (several editions); M.Kassymbekov. First. Essays on the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Honorable people of the Kazakh land (several issues) and others. There is a collection of memoirs of Soviet military leaders.
          The library has the following encyclopedic editions: Kazakhstan. National encyclopedia. In 10 volumes - Almaty, 2007, Kazakhstan. National encyclopedia. In 5 volumes - Almaty, 2006, Kazakh literature. Encyclopedic reference — Almaty, 2005, Military encyclopedia of Kazakhstan. In 2 volumes - Almaty, 2005, Great Soviet encyclopedia. 1, 2, 3, 4 editions, The Great Patriotic War. 1941-1945. - M., 1985; Civil war and military intervention in the USSR. - M., 1983, 1987 and others.

NEWSPAPERS

          The newspaper fund is represented by: "Ana tili" ("Mother language") (2004-2020), "Argumenty i fakty" ("Arguments and Facts") (1998-2020); "Yegemen Kazakhstan" ("Independent Kazakhstan") (1993-2020); "Izvestia" (1933-1934); "Spark". Issues 1-6 (1900-1903); “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda” (1993-1934, 1979-1984 - incomplete sets; 1993-2020); "Pravda" (1917, 1940-1988); "Socialist Kazakhstan" (1981-1982; 1984-1985) and others.

REFERENCE AND INFORMATION FUND

          The reference and information fund (hereinafter referred to as RIF) of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, along with the library, is included in the Information Service of the Archive and functions as part of the Department of information and methodological work.

RIF AP RK is a collection of published and unpublished scientific, methodological and other documents on the problems of archival science, records management, archeography, other related disciplines, a reference and search apparatus for them, as well as reference literature and materials necessary for the activities of the Archive.

          The fund includes scientific literature on management, scientific organization of labor, planning, regulation, organization of scientific and information activities, library and publishing; official and departmental publications, normative and scientific-methodical documents, reference literature supplementing the documents of the Archive and necessary for its scientific research and information and reference work; regulatory, scientific and methodological developments and periodicals on records management, archival science, archeography and related scientific disciplines, as well as unpublished developments of the Archive. Along with industry-specific, generally accepted methodological manuals and information materials, the fund contains a large number of materials that reveal the specifics of record keeping and work with documents in central, local and primary organizations of the CPSU and All-Union Leninist Young Communist League.

          As of January 1, 2020, the RIF AP RK has 2,354 teaching materials. As new materials become available to the fund, the department employees regularly and purposefully inform the Archive staff in the form of oral reviews, organize exhibitions, prepare recommendatory lists of literature on the subject of the work performed in the Archive for their sources of acquisition.
          Two lists of regulatory and methodological documents are published annually. The first includes all methodological developments, reference and other information publications prepared by the staff of the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the previous year. The second list covers the entire array of regulatory and methodological documents received by the RIF AP RK from third-party organizations over the past year. The fund is not closed and is available to all interested parties.
